Constrictors in our Area?

Yes. We do have constrictors in this area, but they are not the type you might be thinking of. You are probably thinking about the big guys like anacondas and boa constrictors (don't worry we don't have them here), but that isn't what I mean. I'm talking about things like the Eastern rat snake and Black racer.

Just because they are constrictors, doesn't mean they are huge, man eating, evil beasts. "Constrictor" just means that they have the capability to hold onto things with their muscles. Constrictors are the snakes that wrap around their prey rather than killing them with venom. They can be very little snakes, yet still be constrictors. All constrictors, including the big ones, are not venomous.

I am trying to say that you shouldn't be afraid of a snake just because it is a "constrictor".
